We now are in the time/space designated as July 6 2020. I don’t anticipate it will be a special day. More of the same chaos we’ve grown accustomed to. While I try and live in the present, I can’t help wanting to see around the corner and peek at the future. A few hundred years ago it was simple because nothing changed very quickly. That was then. We don’t live in that kind of world anymore. I’ll stick with this day, for now. It’s International Kissing Day and I don’t recommend celebrating it. It’s also National Air Traffic Control Day and flying is also risky business. It is National Fried Chicken Day, Take Your Webmaster to Lunch Day, Virtually Hug a Virtual Assistant Day and Umbrella Cover Day. I’ll go with some fired chicken. This first interesting historical event happened in 1348 when the Pope issued a Papal bull during the Black Death stating that the Jews not to blame and urging their protection. When anything went wrong at this time in history, our European ancestors used it as an excuse to kill Jews. On this day in 1699 Pirate Captain (William) Kidd is captured in Boston. He was hanged in London in 1701 for Piracy and thought to have buried treasure in the Caribbean which has never been found. Lastly, this is the day in 1945 Abbott and Costello’s film “The Naughty Nineties” released featuring longest version of their “Who’s on First” routine. This is the birthday (1907) of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo who said, “I tried to drown my sorrows, but the bastards learned how to swim”. This is the day in 1962 that William Faulkner, author and Nobel Prize winner dies at 64. He said, “Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world…would do this, it would change the earth.” I agree. Now, what happens to you in the next few hours is mostly up to you. Make it as good as you can. Abide
