We’ve arrived at a chaotic May 30, 2020. I’m sure we will have some historical footnotes about this day in our history books. The best way to seek happiness today is to turn off the news because there’s going to be little reported that will brighten your mood. We go through these times periodically and when we come out of them we find ourselves in a new place. I’m sure we will this time too. Today is My Buckets Got A Hole In It Day. Somehow that seems appropriate. It’s also National Creativity Day, Water A Flower Day and Mint Julep Day. Maybe get creative and fix the hole in the bucket? Worth a try. This is the day in 1431 that 19 year old Joan of Arc is burned at the stake in Rouen, France. On May 30 1806 future US President Andrew Jackson kills Charles Dickinson in a duel after Dickinson accused Jackson’s wife of bigamy. I’ve often thought that we would be more respectful of each other if they brought dueling back. In 1896 the 1st car accident occurs when Henry Wells hits a cyclist in New York City. Finally, in 1935 on this day, Babe Ruth plays his final game. Today is the birthday of Gale Sayers, College, Pro Football Hall of Fame halfback who was born in Wichita, Kansas. He said, “We must stop the trend of closing schools and building prisons.” On this day in 1778 Voltaire, French writer, philosopher and playwright dies at 83. He said, “It is said that the present is pregnant with the future.” That’s a different way to look at the flow of time. I fear an ugly baby. We will find out how it looks tomorrow. Be safe, be kind and Abide.
