A new day is here. We’ve never been here before. We are the only people who’ve ever lived that have reached 5.20.2020. In fact, around 151,000 of us who made it to yesterday, didn’t make it to today. The flip side of that coin is that 360,000 who weren’t here yesterday, will be today. I’m happy to be one of the lucky people who gets to live this day. It’s Be a Millionaire Day, Eliza Doolittle Day, Flower Day, World Bee Day, Pick Strawberries Day and National Quiche Lorraine Day. Strawberries sound good to me. Now a ride in the way back machine. On this day in 1310, shoes are first made for the right and left feet. In 1830, Hyde patents the fountain pen. In 1861 Kentucky proclaims its neutrality in Civil War. On this day in 1873 Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis patent the first blue jeans with copper rivets. Finally, on this day in 1916, 1917 and 1918, Codell, Kansas is hit by a tornado. Today is Joe Cocker’s birthday (1944). Joe said, “God, I’m just a fat bald guy, 60 years old, singing the blues, you know?” You did it so well Joe. This is also the day in 2012 that Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees dies of cancer at the age of 62. Robin said, “Losing people makes you realize you’ve got to grab life – not put things off.” I agree with him on that one. So let’s go grab a little life today. Do it safely and be sure to Abide.
