It’s Mother’s Day also known as May 10, 2020. I’ll celebrate my memory of the person who gave me life and told me how to live it. Abraham Lincoln said, “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” In addition to being Mother’s Day it’s also Clean Up Your Room Day, Trust Your Intuition Day, National Small Business Day and National Shrimp Day. This is the day in 1752 that Benjamin Franklin tests the lightning conductor with his kite-flying experiment. On this day in 1797 the 1st US Navy ship, the “United States,” is launched. This is the day in 1869 that the Golden Spike is driven, completing the 1st US Transcontinental Railroad at Promontory Summit, Utah connecting the Central Pacific Railroad with the Union Pacific. Lastly, on this day in 1963 Decca Records signs the Rolling Stones on advice of Beatle George Harrison. In honor of Mother’s Day, I’ll end this post a quote from Rudyard Kipling said, “An ounce of mother is worth a pound of clergy.” Today, I will toast my mother and the mother of my children. Maybe have some shrimp too. You all be sure and Abide now.
