Another day is here. Yesterday I watched a Ted Talk (www.ted.com) by Ray Dalio who is a global hedge fund manager give his views about what follows this. He says that we go through something like this every 75 years or so. It’s a once in almost everyone’s lifetime event. Bottom line, we’ll get through this and come out in a different place with a different economy according to Ray Dalio. Today is April 25th, 2020. The Commission has too many Days today. Here are some of them: Bob Wills Day, Eeyore’s Birthday, Independent Bookstore Day, National Crayola Day, National Day of Puppetry, National Sense of Smell Day, National Zucchini Bread Day and World Tai Chi Day. Now to history: On this day in 1792 the guillotine is first used in France when highwayman Nicolas Pelletier is executed. In 1901, New York becomes the 1st state requiring automobile license plates for $1. Finally, on this day in 1983 Yuri Andropov invites US schoolgirl Samantha Smith to the Soviet Union. Samantha had written a letter to Andropov in December asking him if the Soviets were planning to start a nuclear war. Big deal at the time. This is Ella Fitzgerald’s birthday (1917). She said, “It isn’t where you came from, its where you’re going that counts.” This is the day that Ginger Rogers, who was Fred Astaire’s favorite dance partner, died at the age of 83. She said, “Looking back at my life’s voyage, I can only say that it has been a golden trip.” I hope to feel the same way, a long time in the future of course. So that’s it. Now it’s time to start this day. Be safe. It’s still dangerous out there. Abide
