April 14th, 2020 has arrived. It will be here for another 17 1/2 hours or so (It’s 6:30 am) and then it will move into the the past and become yesterday. Time is like a train and today is a station. The train pulls in from the future and then goes into the past. Everyday, a new train. Someday, we’ll board the train and take the ride. There’s got to be a song in there somewhere. Today is Ex-Spouse Day, International Be Kind To Lawyers Day, International Moment of Laughter Day, National Dolphin Day and National Pecan Day. A slice of pecan pie with a scoop of ice cream does sound good. This is the day in 1841 that the 1st detective story is published, It is Edgar Allan Poe’s “Murders in Rue Morgue”. This is the day in 1865 that Abraham Lincoln is shot by John Wilkes Booth at Ford’s Theater in Washington. Finally, this is the day in 1881 of the Four Dead in Five Seconds Gunfight in El Paso Texas. Dallas Stoudenmire, who was a famous gunfighter, had only been Marshall for 3 days when got into a gunfight that killed 4 men in 5 seconds (he killed 3 of them). There were 3 Texas Rangers watching who didn’t get involved because “Stoudenmire had the situation well in hand”. I guess he did. Today is Loretta Lynn’s birthday (1932). She said, “I didn’t know how babies were made until I was pregnant with my fourth child.” That’s a pretty good line. Since this is the day that Lincoln died, here’s are two quotes from Abe, “No man has a good enough memory to be a successful liar.” and “Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.” I’ve found that both of those quotes are true. Now you’ve got about 17 hours before the train pulls out of the station. Use the time wisely. Stay safe. Abide
