When I wake up, I lay in bed few minutes and think about what I’ll do today. Now, it’s a pleasant experience because the list is short and only things I like doing are on it. Wasn’t always that way. March 5, 2020 is going to be a good day. I can feel it. After all, it’s National Absinthe Day, Cinco de Marcho, Multiple Personality Day and National Cheese Doddle Day. Cinco de Marcho is a made up holiday that marks the beginning of a 12-day period when “people train their livers for drinking huge amounts of alcohol on St. Patrick’s Day.” Works for me. Now to a short history lesson. This is the day in 1770 known as the Boston Massacre when British soldiers kill 5 men in a crowd throwing snowballs, stones and sticks at them. African American Crispus Attucks 1st to die. In 1858 abolitionists establish “Crispus Attucks Day” in Boston. In 1933 FDR proclaims 10-day bank holiday. This happened 2 days after FDR took office and gave him time to pass the Emergency Banking Act to save our financial system. This is the birthday (1910) Momofuku Ando who invented instant noodles and cup noodles. He said, “Peace will come to the world when the people have enough noodles to eat.” That reminds me of the saying “Anarchy is only three meals away”. There are a lot of important people who died on this day. Joseph Stalin is the biggest name. He died of a stroke. He said, “The people who cast the votes don’t decide an election, the people who count the votes do.” Now, I’m off to enjoy this new day. Abide.
