We’re almost out of the time/space that of February 2020. The 29th is the last day of it. Every 4 years we add this day to keep our calendar in sync with the sun. We’ve been adding a leap day since January 1st, 45 BC when the Julian Calendar was first used. I didn’t know that. Off to a good start. It’s International Sword Swallowers Day, International Tongue Twister Contest Day, National Surf and Turf Day and Open That Bottle Night. This is my question: Tonight, after you’ve opened that bottle of wine, will you be able to say: “Six sick hicks nick six slick bricks with picks and sticks?” This is the day in 1692 that the first people were accused of witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts. I didn’t realize until I started writing this post that witchcraft trials were held all over Europe. This is the day in 1892 that St. Petersburg, Florida was incorporated. In 1940 Hattie McDaniel became the 1st African American woman to win an Oscar for “Gone with the Wind”. She played Mammy to Miss Leigh in the move. Gone with the win won 12 Oscars. Hattie said, “I did my best, and God did the rest.” This that Tony Robbins (motivational speaker) was born in 1960. He said, “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” That sword cuts either way. I’m happy with my result so I plan to keep on doing what gets me there. That’s enough to start this day. I don’t recommend anyone celebrate by swallowing a sword. I suggest you Abide.
