Here we are in the time/space of February 28, 2020 flying through space on this ball of matter with a thin atmosphere keeping us alive. Damn, we’re lucky. We can think, make stuff, laugh, be happy, play the ukulele, etc.. What a fantastic life we have!! Just to be able to live each day is enough for a celebration. There’s other stuff too. It’s National Chocolate SoufflĂ© Day, National Sleeping In Public Day, National Skip the Straw Day, National Tartar Sauce Day and National Tooth Fairy Day. The sleeping in public day could get you in trouble because on this day in 1646, Roger Scott, of Lynn, Massachusetts, was tried for sleeping in church and sentenced to a public whipping as punishment. Yikes! In 1859 Arkansas legislature requires free blacks to choose exile or slavery. Wow. Think about that one for a few minutes. Now something really interesting. In 1917 on this day the AP reported that Mexico was going to align with Germany if US entered WW I. That would have been a war between the US and Mexico. Germany tied to talk Mexico into getting into WWI and if they won, Mexico would get back Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Never knew that. This is Mario Andretti’s birthday (1940). He said, “I count my blessings every day, quite honestly, because I take nothing for granted.” Me too Mario, me too. This is also the day in 2009 that Paul Harvey died at the age of 90. He said, “In times like these, it helps to recall that there have always been times like these.” and “Now you know the rest of the story”. I’m off to live this day. It’s going to be fun. Hope you feel the same. Abide
