It’s December 1, 2019 and the beginning of a national celebration commonly referred to as the Christmas holidays. I’ve always enjoyed this time of the year although I must admit the Christmas songs become a bit repetitive toward the end. Today is national Christmas lights day, eat a red apple day, national pie Day, Rosa parks day, and small brewery Sunday. Pie or beer? That’s going to be a really tough decision. Maybe both? Now to the history of this date: in 1750 the first school in America to offer manual training courses opens in Maryland. In 1878 the first White House telephone is installed. In 1903 the “great train robbery” is the first western film released. In 1913 the first drive up gasoline station opens in Pittsburgh. Finally in 1913 Ford motor company institutes the worlds first moving assembly line for the model T Ford. A few henry Ford quotes are now in order. “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently”. “Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs “. Finally “You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” All nuggets of wisdom from a great mind now gone. Henry Ford falls is in the top 10 people I would like to spend an afternoon with. Now I will begin to live this unique, once in a lifetime day. Abide
